Thankfully, I've never had a failed update process and the routing system hasn't let me down so don't appear to have suffered the problems you list.
The software updates for the HERE maps are a ballache, and updates appear on a regular monthly basis but the PITA is having to download the whole of Europe and Russia (you cannot select smaller "tile" regions, as with some other GPS systems) - this usually entails a half-hour download, then a twenty minute upload via USB stick.Īs someone's already mentioned, roads don't change that often, so the updates are probably a change in phone number for a McDonald outlet in Outer Mongolia. Having a tracker fitted was a requirement by my insurance company though they didn't specify whose/which system - so I simply maintained the Jaguar subscription and gives me peace of mind. The other issue is the speed limiter, not yet mandatory but be sure it’s not far off, relies on up to date speed limit info presumably delivered by the nav system assisted by the traffic sign recognition camera. It should come automatically with the connect system. Has anyone else faced the same decision and if so, what did you do? I think what annoys me most is not only that Jaguar charge for a substandard system, but that they charge a fantasy price for it (why am I not surprised).

Yes of course I’ve got CarPlay and Waze but the screen is small and the driver display doesn’t work with it. Very infrequent updates, clumsy update mechanism involving vast downloads, unreliable loading into the car which leaves you with no navigation facility when it fails, loss of traffic sign recognition when the aforesaid nav update fails, very dodgy routing at times, active routing unreliable and slow to update, coverage of minor roads poor, rubbish web interface that seems to have been designed by a sadist. Experience of the software has not been good. I could renew but I’m struggling with the value after paying out £££ for the extended warranty and ££ for the connected system.
I’ve just hit 3 years on my P300 and the navigation updates are now disabled.
